Riverbed Whitewater Cloud Storage Appliances Now Support Integration With Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage

Riverbed Continues to Grow Cloud Storage Ecosystem; Gives Customers Greater Flexibility in Choosing Cloud Storage Providers

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/28/13 -- Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the application performance company, today announced that the Whitewater® cloud storage appliance product family now supports integration with Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage. Organizations that deploy Whitewater cloud storage appliances can now choose Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage as a cloud storage location for important backup data sets. The addition of Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage to the growing Whitewater ecosystem extends Riverbed's ability to give organizations unparalleled choice and flexibility when modernizing their data protection infrastructure to replace tape-based technology with fast, secure, and cost-efficient cloud storage.

Purpose-built for fast backup and restore, Whitewater cloud storage appliances deduplicate, compress, and encrypt data to reduce storage costs in the cloud. Whitewater appliances enable organizations to easily and securely obtain the benefits of the public cloud's flexibility, scalability, and pay-per-use pricing, without changes to their existing infrastructure. This frees data protection staff from labor-intensive tape backup and management with no disruption to their operations.

"Through integration with Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage, Whitewater cloud storage appliances offer enterprises a modern and flexible choice for backing up their data," said Martin Capurro, vice president of cloud product management at Savvis. "By leveraging these two technologies, companies can secure a cost-effective alternative to tape backup while also gaining unlimited and affordable storage."

Whitewater cloud storage appliances support the industry's most popular data protection applications as well as the leading cloud service provider application programming interfaces (APIs), requiring no expensive integration or complex configuration. Typically, organizations can install Whitewater appliances and begin moving data to the cloud in less than one hour.

"Deploying Whitewater cloud storage appliances with Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage enables organizations to eliminate the administrative burden and costs associated with tape backup. The combined solution offers a low-cost storage tier for backup data sets," said John Martin, senior vice president and general manager, Storage Delivery Group at Riverbed®. "The Whitewater appliances' real-time replication greatly improves disaster recovery readiness, streamlines IT operations, and delivers the performance, security, and reliability that customers require. Customers deploying Whitewater appliances with Savvis Symphony Cloud Storage benefit from fast-and-easy installation, no changes to the existing infrastructure, and world-class support and service."
