Eucalyptus Systems on Monday announced a strategic partnership with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation No. 32 Research Institute (CETC32), one of the largest IT solutions and services providers in China. CETC32 will leverage Eucalyptus to provide integrated solutions to customers implementing cloud computing as part of their business strategy. CETC and Eucalyptus will formalize the partnership at a signing ceremony on April 6 in Shanghai.

Under the agreement, Eucalyptus' on-premise Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform will serve as the foundation of CETC32's Hua-Cloud, which serves the Public Security, Health and Medical, Smart Traffic, Food Security and SME markets. Based on Eucalyptus' technology, CETC32 will develop specific features to meet local customer requirements under the Hua-Cloud brand. Eucalyptus and CETC32 will also set up a joint lab facility in Shanghai to accelerate local research and development.

"This strategic partnership will enable customers in China to benefit from a combination of CETC32's local market presence and the industry's leading on-premise cloud platform," said Marten Mickos, CEO of Eucalyptus. "Cloud adoption in China is extremely rapid, and we're honored to play a central role with our esteemed partner in bringing elastic compute resources to companies and public agencies across this vast market. Today's signing ceremony marks the first of many milestones in our partnership with CETC32."

Eucalyptus is the world's most widely deployed software platform for on-premise IaaS clouds. Eucalyptus is enabling 25,000 cloud starts each year, including instances at more than 20 percent of Fortune 100 companies. In the last year, Eucalyptus has expanded its team in China to meet the growing demand for cloud computing. In fact, organizations in China have started more Eucalyptus clouds than companies in any other region.

"Eucalyptus is a worldwide market leader in cloud computing and we continue to be impressed with the company's ability to deliver open and agile cloud software," said Mr. Xiaoming You, President of CETC32. "Eucalyptus embraces cloud computing industry standards which are foundational to our Hua-Cloud offering. Eucalyptus' technology and products received a high rating after our in-depth research and evaluation. CETC32 will add government approved cloud computing security policies on top of existing features in Eucalyptus to deliver a solution specifically tailored to the Chinese market."

Signing Ceremony

A signing ceremony will take place on April 6, 2012 at the Shanghai Regal International East Asia Hotel from 1:30-4:00 p.m. local time. Attendees will include officials from the Shanghai Government, and executives from Shanghai Main IT Enterprises, Shanghai Main Information Centers, CETC32 and Eucalyptus.
